Funeral services for Matthew Hollis Strickland, 38, of Nashville, TN and formerly of Greenville, MS will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Matthew Hollis Strickland, born in Greenville, Mississippi, passed away on November 4, 2025, following ongoing medical issues. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Matt was the beloved life partner of Eric Sisco-the love of his life and his true soulmate. Their bond was one of deep affection, unwavering support, and joyful companionship. He also shared his life with two cherished pets, beautiful Rose and handsome Rusty, who brought him endless joy.

A proud graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Matt was a gifted writer and songwriter. He poured his soul into poetry and music, often using his creative gifts to bring comfort and laughter to those around him.

Matt was a devoted uncle to his nephews Christopher Thomas (Sarahi), Nicholas Flora, and Easton Edwards, and a loving great-uncle to Elijah, Isaiah, Sophia, and Aaliyah Thomas. He was a proud godfather to his beloved goddaughter Aaliyah, whose life he touched deeply. He also cherished his godmother Kim Goodwin Huston (Scott) and godfather Duane Griffin, as well as extended family members Ben Blevins (Laura) and Edward Sisco Sr., who were important figures in his life.

He is survived by his brother-in-law Edward Sisco, Jr. (Becky) and Tyler Edwards (Rachel), with whom he shared many meaningful moments. Matt is also survived by his uncle Ronnie Rogers (Cheryl), Joe Milner (Elle), and his aunts Tracy Hendrix (David), JoAnn Finklea, and Sandra Rushing. He held a deep love for his many cousins, whose lives he touched with his warmth and kindness.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Kay Strickland; sister, Brooke Evans; grandfather, James Strickland; and grandmother, Mildred Strickland. Their memories lived on in Matt's heart and through the stories he lovingly shared.

Matt's life was filled with laughter, kindness, and courage. He was known for his humor, his radiant smile, and his ability to make others feel seen and loved. He inspired those around him to live boldly and love deeply. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him-in the songs he wrote, the poems he penned, and the love he gave so freely.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashville Humane Society in Matt's honor, reflecting his deep love for animals and the joy they brought to his life
