Matthew Robert Timpone, lovingly known as "Matt" and affectionately nicknamed "Big Guy," passed away on May 8, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 44.
Born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Matt was a man of warmth, creativity, and unwavering loyalty. He was a dedicated and hardworking individual who brought passion and heart to everything he did. Whether it was cheering for the New York Yankees or the University of Miami, discussing his favorite Marvel characters, or hunting down the perfect pair of sneakers, Matt's enthusiasm was infectious.
He had a deep love for music, movies, and art, with a natural talent for drawing and a sharp sense of humor that lit up every room. Matt was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone, and he never hesitated to offer a helping hand or a kind word. Above all, he cherished his family and friendships, which were the cornerstone of his life.
Matt is survived by his loving mother, Peg Timpone; his brother Michael Timpone and wife Kimberly; his sister Megan Timpone and husband Chad Robichaux; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Michael Gillespie and Rita Kiernan, whose memories remained close to his heart.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held in the tradition of an Irish wake on Saturday, May 17th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brick Store Pub, 125 E Court Square, Decatur, GA 30030. (Please note: there will be no viewing at this celebration.) Hotel information for out-of-town guests is available through the family upon request.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Matt's memory to the American Kidney Fund.
