Matthew Edward Toscano

Matthew E. Toscano, 53, of Windsor, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Matthew was born in Hartford, the son of Thomas Toscano and May (Bailey) Toscano, was a graduate of Gengras Center Special Educational School and he also attended various ILC & ASD programs. He spent many summers at Camp Sunrise where he enjoyed meeting new people and learning new skills. Matt was a dedicated employee with Geissler's Market in Windsor for 29 years, and for the last two years, he enjoyed working with Stop & Shop, Pea Pod division.
Matt had a loving and kind spirit and believed in showing kindness to everyone. One of Matt's greatest joys was last Christmas, when his neighbors found out he was ill and decided to surprise him with a Tree of Hope that they put up in the front of the house. Neighbors brought ornaments and decorations to adorn the tree, this act of kindness warmed Matt's heart as well as his family's. Matthew was a friend to everyone and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
One of Matt's greatest joys was being a part of the annual Toscano Ancestral Society outing, he enjoyed meeting and greeting everyone.

Matt leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, May Toscano (Bud Cote); father, Thomas Toscano, Sr. (Karen); sisters, Amy Tomaro (Dan) and Julie Toscano-Funk (Mike); stepbrother, Ric Cote (Diane); his aunt, Pamela Bailey; uncles, Bud Bailey, Jim Bailey (Gail), and Ed Hellyar; nieces, Ella Cote, Camille Cote, Hailey Funk, and Riley Funk; and a host of other relatives, and friends. Matt was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Toscano, Jr.; his grandparents, Ann and Bud Bailey; and his aunt, Marge Hellyar.
His family would like to thank Dr. Rutter and the staff at Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Demopoulos and staff at Ayer Neuroscience Institute, for the excellent care given to Matthew during his courageous fight with glioblastoma.
His family will receive friends on Friday, April 5, 4-7 p.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield, Ave., Windsor.
Burial will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
