On Saturday, June 27, 2020, Matt Vega's soul was set free from this sad world. Matt was so hurt by the way humans treat each other, the power of the rich, and the judgments we all too readily share with intent to tear down self worth and self esteem of others. Matt was only 22 years old, but God gave him an old soul, gentle and loving.
Matt loved his friends and family so deeply; there are no words to describe the pain we are feeling. We know Matt is with us, and we know we must continue Matt's work - to spread love and do our part to make a change wherever we can.
As you go through life, please remember that most people, even those with a ready smile, are carrying a weight. And please do not judge those who don't have a smile on their faces. You just don't know the pain they carry. In honor of Matt, please look around you, especially among your loved ones, and let them know every day how much they are loved and appreciated.
Matt's family participated in a service at their home conducted by a long time family friend, Father Dariusz. In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial donations can be made in Matthew's name to:
