Matthew Loen Weck

Age 33, late of Lockport, passed into eternal life peacefully in his home on Monday, August 12, 2024. Born in Joliet, and a lifelong resident of Lockport. Matt was an avid lover of people and animals. From an early age, he enjoyed and cared for a variety of many pets. He relished game nights with friends and family, playing card games, board games, and puzzles, especially teaching new games to his nieces and nephews and beating his parents at Scrabble. Having a great passion for music, he honed his skills through choir and playing several instruments. He cherished spending time with his family. Above all else, he had a deep love of the Catholic Faith and of the Divine Mercy and living that faith with his family.
Preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Weck; maternal grandmother, Mary Ann (Nee Micek) Pena; and his aunt, Nanciline Pena.
Survived by his devoted parents, Tod and Justine (Nee Borowiec-Pena) Weck; three loving siblings, Justin (Danielle) Weck, Candice (Kyle) Wieman, and Megan Weck; four cherished nieces and nephews, Lucia, Joseph, Lena, and Jack Wieman; paternal grandmother, Marjorie "Mitzi" Weck; maternal grandfather, Alfred Pena; his faithful canine companion, Sapphire; and numerous cherished family members and friends. The Weck family would like to thank Father Jerome from St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, Joliet who was a bright light for Matthew and assisted him spiritually throughout his struggles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Weck family or Mass Intentions in Matthew's name would be greatly appreciated. Donations will be distributed to various charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 401 Brassel Street, Lockport, IL 60441 from 9:00am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Private Burial will take place at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, IL
