Mattie Elizabeth Lee was born July 13, 1937, in Lillie, LA, to Reverend Gabriel S. Lee, Sr., and Vera Belle McClelland Lee.
Her early acceptance of Christ led her to join Fellowship Baptist Church (Claiborne). After her marriage, she became a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church in Junction City. Her service at Mt. Union, now known as New Mt. Union Baptist Church, was a testament to her unwavering faith and selflessness. She served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher (Adults), Choir Member, Financial Secretary, Mission Vice President, and wherever else she was needed until her health began to fail.
She received her education at Fellowship School and Rosenwald High School where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1955.
She worked at Junction City Nursing Home for several years and then at Georgia Pacific until it closed. After Georgia Pacific closed, she enrolled in the nursing program at Oil Belt Vocational School, where she received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at Union Medical Center/ Medical Center of South Arkansas, where she worked for 31 years, mostly in the Labor and Delivery department, where she helped deliver many babies.
Beyond nursing, she loved fishing and spending time with her friends, better known as the Golden Girls, which included Mrs. Beatrice Meeks, Sylvera Henry, and Darlene Miner. She also loved to do puzzles and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hozie Noble Jr., parents, Reverend Gabriel S. Lee Sr. and Vera McClelland Lee; two sisters, Sylvera Henry, and Debrorah Frazier; six brothers, Robert James Lee, Will Young Lee, Reverend Gabriel S.
