Mattierine Ruffin, 85, was called home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1940, to the late James and Walterine Stewart. Mattierine dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and carried her faith with her throughout her life. Known for her quick wit, strong will, and loving heart, Mattierine lived life to the fullest. She played Scrabble with the same energy as most folks play dominoes and loved a good game of Bid Whiz. Her travels took her to places where she delighted in new experiences and relaxation. She also found peace and joy in bird watching. Mattierine enjoyed spending time with her family. She would often say she loved to see them come — and loved to see them go (home), a reflection of her honest humor and playful, sometimes dark, sense of fun that could fill a room with laughter.

Mattierine's legacy of faith, family, humor, and love will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. Though her earthly journey has ended, we rejoice knowing that her greatest voyage has now begun - reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, at peace in God's eternal care.

Services will be held by Brown Funeral Home 2361 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, IN. Flowers may be purchased through their website: https://www.thebrownfuneralhome.com/obituary/mattierine-ruffin
