November 14, 1933 – July 26, 2025
Maureen Allen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on November 14, 1933, in Kingston, Jamaica, Maureen was the second daughter of Miriam and Alvin Fairclough. She was one of six children and her father, who had a profound influence in her life, inspired her lifelong appreciation for creativity, craftsmanship, and hard work.
Maureen dedicated her life to service — both to her family and to others. Early in her career, she worked as a teacher’s assistant with children with autism in Jamaica. After immigrating to the United States, she pursued further education and earned her certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA), faithfully serving others in the healthcare field until her retirement nearly 15 years ago.
She was married to the love of her life, Earl Allen, for over 50 years, and together they built a life anchored in resilience, and devotion to family.
A devout Christian, Maureen was a long-standing member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Miami, Florida, where she sang in the choir for many years. Her deep faith was evident in the grace, humility, and love with which she treated everyone she met.
She had a quiet elegance and many passions, including singing, reading, and gardening. Her greatest joy, however, came from the time she spent with her family, whom she loved and supported unconditionally.
Maureen is lovingly remembered and survived by her three daughters: Mrs. Arlene Sharpe, Ms. Faith Allen, and Dr. Alison Allen, her five grandchildren: Mrs. Kelli-Ann Jones, Mr. David Gayle, Dr. Michka Sharpe, Mr. Michael Sharpe, and Ms. Samara Gayle, and her two great-grandchildren: Mr. Brandon Jones, and Miss Chelsey Jones and their father: Mr. Charley Jones. She also leaves behind four beloved sisters, many cherished nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Maureen’s family and friends will forever remember her for her kind heart, sharp mind, and fierce devotion to those she loved.
A memorial service celebrating Maureen’s life will be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to direct any donations to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
