Maureen A. Doyle, PA-C, a highly respected and deeply compassionate Physician Assistant, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of clinical excellence, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to patient care. Her life was marked by service, intellect, and an enduring love for her family and the natural world.
Born to the late Robert E. Doyle and Anna C. Doyle, Maureen was also predeceased by her brother, Patrick L. Doyle of Billerica, MA. She is survived by her loving siblings: Kathleen M. Bernklow of Stow, MA; Anne E. Kelley of Tewksbury, MA; Matthew J. Doyle of Cincinnati, OH; Mark E. Doyle of Merrimack, NH; and Sean R. Doyle of Brookline, NH. She was a devoted and much-loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews, with whom she shared her warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit.
Maureen graduated from The Ohio State University and earned her physician assistant degree from Yale School of Medicine, where she began a distinguished and far-reaching career in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. A lifelong learner, Maureen also earned a certificate in Scandinavian Languages form New York University. She most recently served as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and was an Instructor at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. She was also a Clinical Lecturer at Weill Cornell Medical College and a long-standing member of the New York City Medical Reserve Corps, reflecting her commitment to public health and emergency response.
From 2006 to 2018, Maureen worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, where she was a key member of the Clinical Faculty in the Sports Physical Therapy Clinical Residency Program. Her role on the Pharmacology and Sports Medicine Team at HSS further showcased her specialized knowledge and clinical leadership. Ever the academic, Maureen jointly-authored an article for Sports Health in 2013 and spent her retirement as a peer reviewer for a variety of journals.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maureen lived life with passion and vitality. She loved travelling, hiking, swimming, and playing tennis, and especially cherished her annual trips with Kathleen to the U.S. Open Tennis Championships in New York. Whether she was exploring a new trail, visiting her family, or enjoying a spirited match, Maureen brought energy and joy to every experience.
She will be remembered not only for her exceptional clinical skills and dedication to teaching but also for her kindness, humor, and the deep bonds she nurtured with family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen's memory to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
