Maureen Theresa Mangan passed away unexpectedly in Yakima, Washington, on March 2, 2024. She was born in Seattle, on July 9, 1963, and moved with her family to Wenatchee, while in grade school.
After graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1981, Maureen studied for a year in Argentina. She then obtained a degree in English from Western Washington University.
Maureen was kind, funny, creative, intolerant of unfairness, and fiercely independent. Despite navigating mental illness for most of her adult life, Maureen sought to live fully and on her terms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Brigid Mangan. She is survived by her companion of many years, Rob Lybyer, of Yakima, her sister, Sheila Douglas (Portland, Oregon), and brothers Brendan Mangan (Seattle, Washington), Shawn Mangan (Tucson, Arizona), and Kevin Mangan (Indianola, Washington), as well two nieces and three nephews.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Shaw & Sons Funeral Home is caring for the family. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.shawandsons.com.

My prayers and thoughts are with the family. It is hard to lose a loved one. Hold on to the memories and share them with your children, grandchildren and others. Be kind to each other. Take care of each other during this time and always.
