Maureen A. Widmer, age 57, of St. Paul, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Regions Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene.
Maureen is survived by her son, Keith (Alicia) Widmer; granddaughter, Blakely Widmer; partner and friend, Rick Jorgensen; father, Kenneth Widmer; sisters, Colleen (Mike) Widmer, Caroline (Chad) Reshestar, and Elizabeth (Kyle) Widmer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maureen will be remembered most for her infectious smile and the unconditional love she showered her friends and family with. Maureen was passionate about life and had many hobbies. For one, Maureen loved spending weekends and weekday nights with friends and her partner, Rick, at the bowling alley and bocce ball courts. Although she spent the past few years as Rick’s number one fan at bowling events, Maureen herself had been an avid bowler for years- she was even crowned the Saint Paul Women’s Singles Champion in 2004. Everyone who knew or met Maureen at these events loved her and whether you were her favorite waitress at the bar or a new acquaintance, you felt the love she had for others immediately.
In addition to bowling, Maureen loved watching old sitcoms, watching the MN Twins, playing “slots” on her IPad, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. Maureen loved her family deeply and never missed out on a family event, whether it was just a get-together with the sisters, or a whole family event with her nieces and nephews whom she loved and liked to joke around with. Maureen was very proud of the adversity her family had overcome over the years and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Because of this, Maureen was very much looking forward to her eminent retirement after working for the State for over two decades as she felt it would allow her to spend more time with her loved ones- especially her son, Keith, and granddaughter, Blakely. Although she would miss her work friends deeply, Maureen was looking forward to a slower day-to-day pace that would allow her to do more of the things she loved. Maureen was a genuine and kindhearted individual who will be missed deeply by those she left behind.
