Born on August 15, 1933, in Cordele, Georgia, Maurice was the son of the late Clyde and Dolly Bennett. He was raised in Cordele and later lived many years in Byron, Georgia, where he continued to embody the values of hard work, integrity, and service that defined his life and legacy.

He believed strongly in teaching by example and instilled in his children strong ethical values, practical skills, and the importance of responsibility and perseverance.
Maurice was also a proud Mason and Shriner, organizations through which he fostered fellowship, charity, and community service.
Above all, Maurice cherished his family. He taught them the importance of working together as a team and taking pride in everything they did. His guidance, strength, and steady presence shaped generations, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew and loved him.
