Maurice Britz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Sep. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Maurice George Britz came into this world June 20th, 1935, like a rocket. He left this world on July 25th, 2025. Impacting the lives of everyone he came across. He was a model of strength, integrity, morality, gentleness, vulnerability and never had a bad hair day in 90 years. He was a man who walked the walk. He was a warrior and a peacemaker. Always there for his family and friends at their best times and their darkest times.

He was a soldier serving in the US Army Hell on Wheels division when the world was just coming out of World War II and the Korean War. While in Germany during this time he stood face to face with a Russian Soldier protecting the Berlin wall, not as a soldier, but as a fellow man. This interaction greatly affected him.

Maurice pressed the social norms all his life. He loved connecting with people through his Catholic faith and his passion for sober living. He would engage with strangers every day making new friends wherever he went. After his tour of duty, he met the love of his life Judith McKee, and they created a legacy of 5 children. Together they taught them the joy of work and the value of helping others. It was a home filled with laughter, polka music, and 5 rowdy wonders that Maurice was so proud of.

Maurice was a plumber, equipment operator, and mail delivery driver. He found his calling as an entrepreneur owning and operating Maury's Auto Body.He enjoyed the simple things like a Burger King Whopper and a good over easy egg. Maurice is survived by his children, Debra (James) Stegner, Paul Britz, Maurice Britz, Brenda (Steve) Wickman and Bonnie Plawman. His grandchildren, James Stegner, Anna Johnson, Paul Britz, Patrick Britz, Torian Mittnacht, Trae Mittnacht, Haley Beilinski, Nicole Wickman, Jake Wickman, Dustin Britz, Safron Britz, Hope Anderson and Faith Plawman. He is great grandchildren, Rosalie Anderson, Jack Anderson, June Stegner, Eleanor Johnson, Vivienne Johnson, Mckenna Mittnacht, Silas Stuht, Laiden Stuht, Jackson Mittnacht, Marleena Mittnacht, Chet Mittnacht, Barrett Beilinski, Amelia Tonn, Ryker Fischer, Avery Britz, Brayden Dameral, Noah Dameral, Eliza Dameral, Rocky Britz, Barrett Britz, Max Anderson and Roman Normandeau. He was preceded in death by his parents Jonas and Julia Britz. His siblings, Donald (Barbra) Britz, Anthony (Theresa) Britz, Lois (Kenneth) Walker. And by his grandson, Rockford Plawman

His family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, 54494. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am CDT, followed by a Memorial Service with Military Honors at 11:00 am CDT, to honor Maurice's life and legacy.

We invite you to share your memories of Maurice, upload photos, and join us in remembering and celebrating his extraordinary life.
