MARQUETTE, MI – Maurice A. D'Herckens, age 74, of Marquette, passed away peacefully at Trillium House on November 25, 2024, with his wife and best friend, Patti, and daughter Nicole, at his side.
Maurice was born October 6, 1950 to Evelyn and Maurice D'Herckens, Sr. in Oak Park, Illinois. He was a graduate of Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois.
Maurice was an ironworker for Local #1 in Chicago, Illinois and was also a member of the Carpenters Union.
He and his wife, Patti, moved to Marquette, Michigan, in 2006 from their home in Wilmette, Illinois. Maurice was a member of the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club.
Maurice is survived by his loving wife, Patti; two daughters, Dawn (Rick) Machado of Buffalo Grove, IL and Nicole (Norbert Hesseln) D'Herckens of Morton Grove, IL; his son, Reese (Jeannie) D'Herckens of Mt Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Ricky, Ashleigh, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Machado, Scarlett, Trent, Beckett, and Tate D'Herckens. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt Florence and uncle Bob Nelson. Also his in-laws, Eleanor Roos Stasiak, Chester Stasiak; sister-in-law Ginny Stewart and brothers-in-law Patrick Leahy and Michael Stasiak.
The family would like to thank the Trillium House staff and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice for the loving care they gave to Maurice and his family.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Chicago in the summer of 2025.
