Maurice Letourneau passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the age of 66 years of heart failure. He will be dearly missed by his children Alain Letourneau (Sharon) and their children Bastion & Felix, of Calgary, Iain Letourneau and his children Isabelle & Vincent, of Calgary, and Gabrielle Letourneau (Jon Landon) of Montreal. Maurice will also be missed by his brothers and sisters: Chick Letourneau of Calgary, Carol Wright (Barry) of Flett Springs, SK, Michelle Janzen (Percy) of Calgary, Alisa Pogson of Rocky Mountain House, and Andrea Chambers of Port Coquitlam, BC; and by a large extended family.
Maurice was predeceased by a daughter Simonne in 2019, his parents Phyllis "Naomi" in 2021, father Albert in 2005 and brother-in-law Jim Pogson.
Maurice was born and raised in Calgary. After High School he began working in the Construction world. He served an LDS mission to North Carolina and upon his return worked on the oil rigs and also returned to construction, spending many years as a framer. He married in 1985 and had four children, who became his most important treasure. The family traveled and moved extensively, returning and settling in Calgary. Maurice love music, especially Alternative music, 80s an Kpop. He also had a love of cars, and had a knack for getting and keeping them running. He was a handy man who could repair or build just about anything. Maurice will be remembered for his love and caring of his family. He could be counted on to look after his siblings and especially his children, who have many stories of his kindness and generosity. He will be dearly missed by each of them.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Maurice at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
