Maurine King Olsen, of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away in the early morning hours of June 22, 2024, in her home at Summit Senior Living. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother, her husband of 62 years, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her children Eva Olsen (friend Peggy Luther), Rob (Tammy) Olsen, Rhonda (Joe) Swatsell, Rowena (Dan) Burnum, Lisa Olsen, 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters Mary (Robert) Bolinder, Ann Thornton, and many cousins.
Maurine was born April 8, 1936 in Moore, Idaho to Glenn and Ellen King. She is the fourth of seven children.
She met her sweetheart, Robert Evan Olsen, in the fourth grade. They were married on April 16, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Between 1952 and 1961 they had four daughters and one son.
Maurine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. After Robert's heart attack in 1980, they served a full-time mission at the Independence Missouri Visitors Center. When she retired, she and her sweetheart served as missionaries at Deseret Dairy for over 10 years. They also served an Inner-city Mission.
She was an inspiration to many and a friend to all. She loved spending time with her family, camping, and playing games. Her favorite was Wild Canasta. We will cherish the memories and the legacy she left and will always remember when we play games that "we play just for fun."
