Mava Lou Taylor, age 86, of Valley Springs passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Hillcrest Rehab.

Mava was born March 12, 1939, to Chester and Lavern (Young) Crunkleton at Eros, Arkansas. She was raised as a happy, little farm girl. She graduated from Bruno School where she was an active member of the basketball team. She received an academic scholarship to UCA in Conway.

Mava married her soulmate on January 14, 1956. They were married for almost 70 years. She worked for a short time at a couple of area schools. Her passion was caring for her family. She liked to bake, sew, and garden. Her door was always open, and food was usually offered. She was a member of the Everton Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, granddaughter, Stephanie Taylor, brother, Dale Crunkleton, and sister-in-law, Faye Crunkleton.

Mava is survived by her husband, John Taylor; her children, Rhoda Martin (Derwin), Johnnie McElroy (Ted), and Tom Taylor (Pat); grandchildren, Melanie Whitehurst (Erik) and Chester Taylor (Katie); great granddaughter, Audra Taylor and another great grandchild on the way. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne Crunkleton; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Crunkleton, Wanda Williams, and Shirley Taylor; a brother-in-law, Ben Taylor, as well as nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1 PM with the funeral service following at 2 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Brother Derwin Martin will officiate.

Burial will be in Western Grove Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Tommy Taylor, Ted McElroy, Chester Taylor, Erik Whitehurst, Tim Crunkleton, Kenny Crunkleton, and Rick Crunkleton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Western Grove Cemetery, PO Box 113, Western Grove, AR, 72685 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
