Sr. Mavis Lee DeMan SA

Sr. Mavis Lee DeMan died at Lurana Healthcare Residence, Graymoor, Garrison, NY on December 12, 2025. She was born on April 28, 1950 in Cranbrook, B.C., Canada and entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement on September 8, 1968. She made her final profession of vows on August 12, 1978. She received her Bachelors degree from SUNY at Oneonta, NY. She ministered in the US for several years before going to Japan for 45 years where she taught English as a second language to adults and children.
She is survived by two Sisters living in Canada, Lorean Butler and Eldene Smedstad and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lorrane
DeMan.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be December 18, 2025 at St. Francis Convent Chapel at Graymoor. Her ashes will be interred at Graymoor and In Japan.
