Mavis EDWARDS Obituary
81, passed away on Good Friday, April 6, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Born in 1930 to William Alfred and Eula Greene Coppedge, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Edwards; and their son, Ronnie Carl Edwards; brothers Duard, Wayne, Otha and Clavis Coppedge; and sisters, Thelma Moore and Pauline Strickland Whitley. She is survived by her son, Rev. James A. Edwards and his wife, Loyce, of Bowling Green, Va.; grandson, J. Andrew Edwards and his wife, Keeli of St. Cloud, Minn.; great-grandson, William T. Edwards; and sister, Jean Matthews of White Oak, N.C. Visitation to be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, and funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Cornerstone Funeral Home, Nashville, N.C. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Va. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Assocation, United Methodist Family Services, Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, or the church of your choice. It has been a long time since I have seen Mrs. Mavis. I remember Mr. Clavis the best. I grew up around White Oak.
