Mavis Qualsett Obituary

Mavis Louise Qualsett

June 6, 1944 - September 4, 2025

Mavis Louise Qualsett, age 81, of Grand Island, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Riverside Lodge.

Celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

Mavis was born on June 6, 1944, in Petersburg, NE, the daughter of Orville and Ruby (Chana) Qualsett.

She was raised near Petersburg and graduated from Albion High School. In the years that followed, Mavis spent short periods of time in Washington, D.C., Colorado Springs, and Hawaii before settling in San Diego, CA, where she would spend much of her career and adult life. She was employed as a civilian for the U.S. Navy for over 30 years. Mavis loved living near the ocean and was known for her excellent baking, often sharing her creations with friends and family.

Mavis was not only admired for her dedication to her work but also cherished for her kind and generous spirit. She carried herself with warmth and grace, and her smile could brighten any room. To her family, she was the heart of every gathering she joined, bringing love and (a lot of) laughter.

A devoted Christian woman, Mavis's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of her local church and actively participated in many of its outreach activities, always eager to serve and support others. Her faith guided her daily life and was evident in the compassion and kindness she extended to everyone around her.

She returned to Grand Island after her retirement to be near her family, where her presence continued to be a blessing to all who knew her. Her devotion to God and her selfless service to others will remain an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Orv Qualsett of Grand Island; nephew, Bart (Lisa) Qualsett of Grand Island; nieces, Kristine Stewart of Arvada, CO, Kami (Monte) Maloley of Omaha, and Kapra (Dave) Watson of Grand Island; her beloved pet/companion Skoshi; and numerous extended family and friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, LuAnn Stewart.
