Max Wade Hooper entered his heavenly home on May 13, 2025. He was born July 3,1932 in Young Harris, Georgia as the first son born to Harve & Roberta(Townsend) Hooper. Max was a people person, a generous giving person, one who loved children and an individual that made friends easily. He served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years having been stationed in Germany, England, Hawaii, as well as Thailand and retired as a Tech-Sargent. After military service, Max worked for the Cobb County School System as well as Lockheed in Marietta, Georgia.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, his wife(Virginia), and a brother(Vinson). He is survived by a son, Derek(Kim) of Atlanta, Ga; two grandsons, Jake Hooper and Josh Hooper( Jenifer) of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Opal Choate of Friendswood, Tx, Ruth Hood of Young Harris, Ga, Faye Lasiter(Charles) of Bakersfield, California, & Grace Burch(Ronnie) of Hayesville, NC; four brothers, Hines Hooper(Shirley) of Young Harris, Ga, Jack Hooper of Panama City, Florida, James Hooper(Rita) of Young Harris, Ga, and Rev. Terry Hooper(Paula) of Young Harris, Ga. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, and a lifetime friend, Beverly Messer of Young Harris, Ga.
A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Young Harris, Ga on Saturday, May 17 at 2:00pm and visitation with the family beginning at 1:00pm. Prior to the service. Rev. Mark Handy will bring the message with Rev. Terry Hooper giving the Eulogy. Special music will be provided by Teren Hooper and Rev. Terry Hooper.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, P.O. Box 346, Young Harris, Ga 30582. Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Homes of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.
