Max F. Mullis, 82, of Hope, passed away at 6:09 p.m. Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Max was born January 15, 1939, in Hope, Indiana, the son of Andy and Ruth Ferguson Mullis.
Mr. Mullis retired from the maintenance department at Atterbury Job Corp after 23 years of service. He loved to hunt, especially squirrel and rabbit hunting. Taking care of his family, his home and living a simple life were important to Max and that is what he spent his life doing.
Survivors include his daughter, Renita Kay (Wayne Rice) Mullis of Buckhorn, Kentucky; granddaughters, Brittany (Josh) Proctor of Florida, Shatawna (Derrick) Foster of Taylorsville; great-grandsons, Brayden and Westley Proctor, Austin Foster; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rovena Hartwell, Charlotte Stroup, infant sister, Patricia Mullis; brothers, William Carroll Mullis, Raymond Charles Mullis, Donald Eugene Mullis, James Richard Mullis and Bobbi Lee Mullis.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
