Vernon Max Patton, age 91, was born October 23, 1933 near Miami, Oklahoma to Albert
Leslie Patton and Hannah Cansada (Utter) Patton. He received his elementary education at
Peoria Dist. 21 east of Miami and attended Quapaw High School. He attended Northeastern
Oklahoma A&M and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1955 with a degree in
accounting. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company from 1955 to 1992 in Corporate
Comptrollers except for three years in Mining & Milling (Uranium) at Grants, New Mexico. He
served with the U.S. Army at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas from 1956 to 1958.
Max was married to Mavis Opal Drury, September 1, 1956, in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
They lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas until 1958, returning to Bartlesville until 1960 when they
moved to Grants, New Mexico where they lived until returning to Bartlesville in
1963. While in Grants, their only child, Marsha Jane was born.
Max was a dedicated member of Tuxedo Assembly of God church. In past years, Max and Mavis
spent much of their time helping to build new churches, maintain or remodel Teen Challenge
Centers (rehabilitation facilities), youth and kids camp facilities and district family camp
facilities.
Survivors include his wife Mavis of 68 years, their daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Mike
Orr, two grandchildren, Macie Walker and Hunter and Mason Orr and Kim, and four great
grandchildren, Maiven and Wellsten Walker and Maxie and Maverick Orr, all of Owasso,
Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six
brothers and three sisters.

Bartlesville, OK, 74006.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2024, at Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in
