Maxcy Stewart Obituary

Augusta, GA - Mr. Maxcy "Mack" Heyward Stewart III, 74, entered into rest Friday, February 2, 2024.

Mack was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County High School, class of 1968. He is a veteran of the United I'm States Air Force and served during Vietnam. He officiated high school football. Mack retired after 41 years as a welder for the Modern Welding Company and was a member of Crossbridge Baptist Church.

Family members include his children: Kristie Leigh Stewart, Jennifer Stewart Brucker and husband Pete, and Andrew Stewart and wife Pam; grandchildren: Avery Stewart, Anna Kaye Brucker, Harper Stewart, Campbell Brucker, William Stewart, and Caleb Stewart; brother: George Stewart and wife Kathy; andnephew: Jesse Newkirk and wife Abby. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maxcy and Georgia Stewart, and brother, Jim Stewart.

The family would like to thank the AU Shock Trauma ICU for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank his lifelong friends Dr. Billy Wylie, the Edisto Crew, Bob Wolbert, Terry Waller, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Almond, Jenny Landrum and Family, Mr. Ed Stalnaker, Employees of Modern Welding, and the ARC Football Buddies.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Dusty Wammack officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
