Mr. Maxie Lee Hayden, 77, of North Augusta, SC, husband of fifty-three years to Cynthia Davis Hayden, entered into rest on Good Friday, April 18, 2025.
Maxie was born January 18, 1948, in Orangeburg, SC. He was one of five children born to the late David Sr. and Mary Estelle Galloway Hayden. He was also preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law, Judson C. Davis and Sarah Smoak Davis.
He lived in Nesses, SC until 1983, then moved to Columbia, SC for two years, before moving to Evans, GA where he would remain in the CSRA. He worked in Mechanical Construction most of his life, employed by MSI and Two State Construction Companies. After retirement, he enjoyed driving a dump truck. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, and being a South Carolina Gamecock fan. More than anything else, however, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended Journey Community Church in Evans, GA, although unable to attend regularly due to his health over the last few years. He was also an active member of Abilene Baptist Church and Warren Baptist Church in previous years.
Along with his wife, Maxie is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Brent) Shafer of North Augusta, SC, and Jennifer Hayden of Casselberry, FL, and grandchildren, Grace Barnett, Caleb Shafer, Clara Shafer, and Alydia Bravo. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law, Liz and Terry Broome of West Columbia, SC, and nieces Stacie McIntyre and Dana Randall, both of Lexington, SC.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
