Maxine Barney Obituary
SWANTON - Maxine P. Barney, age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born January 1, 1935 in Highgate to the late Daniel & Bernice (Horner) Johnson.
Maxine was a life-long resident of the area. She loved being outside working in her gardens and spending time with her cat.
She is survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Barney; her children, William Phillips, James Phillips, and David Barney; and a special granddaughter, Jamie.
In keeping with Maxine's wishes, she will be laid to rest next to her husband James on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Riverside Cemetery, North River Street, Swanton, VT.
For those who wish, contributions in Maxine's memory may be made to Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
