She was born in Minden, Iowa, on September 8, 1922, to Orpha and Andrew Kelsay. She grew up in Oakland, Iowa, and attended Oakland High School. She studied to become a school teacher and taught in a country school before moving to San Diego, Calif., where she met her future husband while working in a B-24 bomber factory. She and her husband, Douglas Dennis returned to Oakland where they raised two children, Kathleen (Dennis) Willby and Keith Dennis. Maxine was an active member of the Methodist church and a member of Eastern Star. They retired and moved to Bella Vista, Ark., and then later to Marietta, Ga., to be close to their daughter. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and six brothers and sisters.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Willby, of Marietta; and her son, Keith Dennis, of Edwardsburg, Mich.; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest in Bella Vista, Ark., beside her husband, Douglas Dennis.

Keith, Kathy and families --- thank you for the notice in the Nonpareil. We have thought about Maxine so many times but hadn't heard from her for a few years. We were so blessed to have both Doug and Maxine as next door neighbors. Doreen and Don Duffy
