Maxine J. Forist, age 87, of Greenville, passed away Monday evening February 13, 2023, at Corewell Health United Hospital, in Greenville. She was born December 27, 1935 in Greenville, the daughter of Harry E. & Vida M. (Atkinson) Palmer. Maxine is survived by her son Allan (Margery) Forist of Greenville ; daughter Jo Taylor of Belding; 5 grandchildren Andrea Forist, Craig Forist, Darrell & (Shannon) Taylor, Bradley & (Margaret) Taylor, Ashley & (Herm) Siegel,; 8 great grandchildren Lindzey, Xavier, Bo and Peyton Taylor, Emilia and Sabrina Siegel and D J. and Kiersten Simpson; sister Marcia (Carl) Fields; brother in law Don & (Loretta) Forist and by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James A. Forist, brothers Cecil, Sherley and Harry, Jr. Palmer and her sisters Wanda Harris and Margaret Sabin. Maxine chose to enter the workforce at the tender age of 16. First working for Jolly Kids in Belding, later for Wolverine World Wide in Greenville and finally General Tire in Ionia from where she retired. Between Jolly Kids and Wolverine Worldwide, Maxine enjoyed her favorite job that of raising her children and babysitting for her niece and nephews. She loved to celebrate the holidays decorating her home for each upcoming one. Her favorite holiday of all was Christmas where she never loss her wonder and anticipation for its arrival. Her generous nature fit perfectly with the Christmas season exhibited by the number of gifts and the immense joy she had from giving presents. Birthdays was a close second to Christmas. Family and friends would receive a birthday card and a personal call wishing that person a Happy Birthday. She particularly enjoyed trips to the casino with special friends Larry and Diane Jenkins. What brought the ultimate joy to Maxine was a call from a grandchild or great grandchild updating her on their recent activities. Members of the family will meet with friends and relatives Sunday February 19th between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at the Marshall Funeral. There will be no service.
