Nina Alma Downing (84) passed peacefully at home with her family around her. She had a full life of love and travel. After retiring from Electrolux, Nina traveled on cruises and road tripped around the United States seeing the sights, but mostly being with the ones she loved and creating memories with them. She spent her free time walking around the town of Greenville socializing with everyone, reading a good book, or doing a puzzle. Nina had a joy for life, always brought the spark and fun to any room she entered. Nina was a lifetime member of Amvets, VFW, and the American Legion. She was proud that she was State Grange Cinderella in 1956. She is preceded in death by her 3 husbands, her brother Ron Leland, sister Gayla Betzold and daughter in law Pam Parks. She leaves behind brothers John (June) Leland and James (Bev) Leland; her children Ed Parks of Ashburn Georgia, Kevin Schultz of Stanton, Tina (Pete) Cushman of Sheridan, Teresa (James) Plaster of Scotts and Wade Downing of West Virginia; her grandchildren, Eddie (Corrie) Parks, Bridgette (Jacob) Hobbs, Matrixx Parks, Chad Campbell, Niccole (Dave) Coston, Danielle (Josh) Peterman, Kaysie Cushman (Dylan Stray), Jessie (Sam) Howard, Glenn Howard, Faith (Troy) Lawhead, Amber Downing (Riggins Collier) and Kris Cantu and 14 great grandchildren. A celebration of life honoring Nina’s life will take place 2 PM Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Belding VFW. Those wishing to express sympathy are welcome to send flowers or consider a donation in Nina’s memory to Veterans Memorial Park in Belding. Internment will take place in the veterans wall at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek at a later date. Arrangements are by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with complete obituary online at www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com where you can leave a message of condolence for the family.
