Maxine Gingery

1937 - 2025

Maxine Gingery, age 88 of Onamia, MN, passed away on December 25, 2025. A Funeral Mass held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia, MN. Visitation held 1 hour prior to Mass at the Church. Arrangements are with the LeMieur Funeral Home in Onamia.

Maxine was born on January 2, 1937, in Carroll, Iowa, to Lawrence and Florence (Goecke) Wolterman. She grew up and attended school in Templeton, Iowa. Maxine worked in the business office of the Carroll Hospital, where they met and eventually married Joe Gingery on January 8, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, Iowa. In 1958, the couple moved to Onamia, Minnesota, where they operated a dairy farm and raised eight children. They were active members of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she taught religious education for many years. Maxine also served as a board member for Bradbury Township. She liked to spend her time reading, bird watching, and being with her many grandchildren and family. Maxine will be greatly missed by all.

Maxine is survived by her sons, Bill and wife, Marge of Onamia, MN, Marty of Onamia, MN, Jake and wife, Lisa of Onamia, MN, Ben and wife, Diana of Aitkin, MN, Roger of Milaca, MN; daughters, Loretta Stella and husband, Dave of Embarrass, MN, Sandy Monson and husband, Dan of Onamia, MN; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Harlan Wolterman; and sisters, Wanita Rolfes, Linda Wolterman-Klocke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gingery; daughter, Carol Wedll; grandchildren, Jay Stella, Danny Monson; parents, Lawrence and Florence (Goecke) Wolterman; sisters, Beth Klocke, Patricia Eskens, and Lou Ann Otto.
