Maxine Pierce McCulloch, 92, passed away on November 22, 2023, at Glen Oaks Nursing Center in Lucedale. Maxine was born on January 30, 1931, in Grenada, to the late Cleve and Maude Grimes Pierce. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from MSCW with a degree in Accounting and then passed the CPA exam. She also held a Nursing Home Administrator License. She worked many years ago at Knickerbocker as a seamstress. She then worked as the Executive Director of Live Oak Retirement Center in Shreveport, Lousiana. She served as Governor of the Mississippi/Louisiana District of Pilot International. She was an avid reader. She married Marvin Felix McCulloch on June 8, 1946, in Adaton, and he predeceased her on July 8, 2004. She was a member of First Church in Lucedale.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Ray.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating, Ashley McLellan sharing Special Memories, and Lucille Armstrong delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Park in Starkville. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Bailey (Frank) of Lucedale: two granddaughters, Heather Ray (Christopher) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Ashley McLellan of New Orleans, Louisiana: two great-grandchildren, Rhys Bailey McLellan and Owen Doyle McLellan, both of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of the South, P. O. Box 9643, Mobile, Alabama 36691 or to First Church of Lucedale, 5101 Main Street, Lucedale, Mississippi 39452.
