Maxine Louise Severson Moss
"Muggs"
Age 78
Maxine Louise Severson Moss, lovingly known as "Muggs," passed away on December 14, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband of 59 years, her children, and loved ones. She was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and pride for her family knew no bounds.
Maxine was born on September 21, 1947, in Murray, Utah, to Lewis L. Severson and Beverly M. Wetzel. She spent most of her childhood in West Jordan, Utah. In 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Stephen D. Moss, and soon after moved to Hurricane, Utah, where they raised their family and built a life together.
Maxine had many creative and outdoor passions. She loved embroidery, drawing, painting, arrowhead hunting, camping, and hunting with her family. She also enjoyed being part of a motorcycle club. In 1989, Maxine and Stephen purchased Moss Towing, which they owned and operated until 2004. In 2003, they also started Moss Transport, which they ran together for four years.
On July 1, 1966, Maxine married the love of her life, Stephen D. Moss. Together they shared a once-in-a-lifetime love and partnership, recently celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary. From their love came three children. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life, and she was immensely proud that they were hers.
Maxine is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen D. Moss of Hurricane, Utah; daughter, Gidget Moss of Hurricane, Utah; sons, Rodney Moss (Jody) of St. George, Utah and Dewey Moss (Holly) of LaVerkin, Utah; nine grandchildren: Christopher (Spencer), Brenston (Hope), Channon, Taleona, Shakiera, Dreyden, Khiereayh, Khalishia, and Joshua; great-grandson, Thomas; great-granddaughter, Rylee; her brother, Roger Severson; sister, Thelma Waldron; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis L. Severson and Beverly M. Wetzel; her sister and best friend, Judy K. Bingham ("Jud"); her niece, Cheryl Segler; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Verl Moss and LaJuana Durfee.
