Maxine Suelene Wilson Powell, of Buffalo Junction, passed away on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax County on April 20, 1934 to the late William Carrington Wilson and the late Esma Elliott Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bedford Powell.

Maxine graduated from the Virgilina High School. She was employed as a line worker at Revlon, where she developed lasting friendship with her many co-workers. She loved the beauty of the outdoors, always working in her flowers or doing yard work. Her family was very important to her, she loved them dearly and always enjoyed cooking for them.

She is survived by her sons, Harold Powell (Janet), Carroll Powell, Michael Powell (Janet) and Barry Powell; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Wilson Clark, W.C. Wilson, Jr, Wallace Wilson. and Rachel Wilson Matthews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Sorensen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
