Maxine Kay (Freeberg) Roush, age 69, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Hospitals - St. Mary's Campus in Rochester.
Maxine was born the youngest of four children to Ellis and Donna (Henderson) Freeberg on November 3, 1954 in Zumbrota. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1973.
She married Don Rapp on March 9, 1973 at First English Lutheran Church, and they had two sons together, Tony and Willie. They later divorced. She later married Jim Roush on September 8, 1994 and were divorced later.
She had worked at White Rock Bank in Cannon Falls and later Malt-O-Meal in Northfield, where she worked for many years before retiring.
Maxine was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She delivered Meals on Wheels and would always help someone in need. She found the good and potential in everyone she met and felt everybody had their purpose in life!
Maxine enjoyed quilting, sewing, and all types of crafting. She loved nature and the many adventures outdoors she had with her kids and grandchildren. She was also an excellent hunter.
She was born a prankster and that never left her! She had no filter and found laughter and fun in every day! Among her many experiences, she won the one and only elephant race in downtown Cannon Falls! Most of all, she will be remembered for her sweet, welcoming smile. You always knew there would be a smile... loving and mischevious!
She is survived by her sons, Anthony "Tony" Rapp of Cannon Falls and William "Willie" (Dawn Swanson) Rapp of Northfield; grandchildren, Danielle "Nellie" (Leo) Tyler, Cody Rapp, Amilia Rapp, Andrew Rapp, William Rapp Jr. "Little Willie", Kiah Krigbaum, Payton Swanson, Samantha Swanson, and Tyler Swanson; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Corbin, Jeffrey, Marley, and Kaison; siblings, Linda (Jim) Lorentz of Dublin, OH, Ron (Marcia) Freeberg and Stephanie (Tom) Fox, all of Cannon Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Donna Freeberg.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, November 11 at 10:30 am at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Lunch and a time of fellowship will follow the service at church. The recorded version of her service is found below or under "Videos" at https://www.youtube.com/@firstenglishlutheranchurch3832/streams
