Maxine Thomas Wilborn, 81, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 16, 1944, in Bremen, Georgia, to the late Hugh and Camilla Barnes Thomas.
Maxine's life was defined by her strong work ethic and deep devotion to her family. In her early adult years, she worked in her family's restaurant in Atlanta, a commitment that continued when the restaurant relocated to Carrollton. Family remained a central part of her life; she took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, always wanting the best for them and finding a way to get things done when needed.
She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and abroad. A favorite hobby was playing the slot machines. No matter what city, state or town she would be in, she would always find a casino nearby. Some of her most cherished memories were made during summers spent with her children and grandchildren at her beach house. Maxine was a dedicated member of Bethesda Baptist Church before she moved, where she spent many years teaching Sunday School and cleaning the church.
Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lamar Wilborn, and her son, Ken Wilborn.
She is survived by her four children and 3 stepsons: Craig Wilborn (Kay), Chris Wilborn (Robin), Lamar Wilborn, Scott Heath (Angela), Pam Chadwick (Chuck), Lee Heath (Tona), and Brandon Wilborn (Angelica), and brother, Terry Thomas. She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm and on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Maxine's life on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Pat Heuer officiating.
Messages of love and condolences may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to care for the Wilborn family during this time.
