Bettye Maxyne Sapp, a beloved member of her community and a devoted family matriarch, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Huffman, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on October 31, 1939, in Center, Texas, Maxyne lived a life rich in love, faith, and dedication. She was the best mama anyone could ask for. For many years, she devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother, a role she cherished until her children were in high school. During those years, she poured her heart into their schools as an active PTA volunteer and was honored to become a lifetime member—an accomplishment she was deeply proud of. Her home was known as the place everyone wanted to be. With her warm smile and open-door spirit, Mama welcomed all our friends as if they were her own. Some of our favorite memories are of her riding in the backseat while we “drove the drag,” laughing, talking, and spending time with us and our friends. She truly loved being part of our world. For many years, Maxyne served as a school secretary for North Forest Independent School District, where her warm demeanor and strong organizational skills made her a cherished figure among students and staff alike. Her commitment to education reflected her caring nature and genuine love for helping others. Maxyne answered to many things, but the one she cherished most was ‘Mamaw,’ a name spoken by family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to know her. Mamaw had an unwavering love for her family, which was evident in her active participation in the lives of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mamaw attended countless sports events and activities, cheering them on with pride and joy. Maxyne’s children, Mayre Sapp Beaty and her husband Joe, and Billie Joe Sapp Jr., along with his former wife, Cindy Sapp, and her grandchildren, Misti Sak, David Sapp and his wife Rachel, Dustan Sapp and his wife Tiwi, Kristi Bell and her husband Chris, and Rhonda Reid, were a source of immense happiness for her throughout her life. Mamaw cherished the moments spent with her family and created lasting memories that will be treasured forever. Beyond her family, Maxyne was known as a faithful servant to the Lord; her vibrant personality made her a true people person. She forged meaningful connections with many, often sharing laughter and kindness with those around her. Her warmth and generosity of spirit extended to her love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Peaches, Honey, and granddog Cocoa. Maxyne found joy in simple pleasures, such as going on road trips with her sister and savoring meals at her favorite restaurants. She enjoyed the company of friends while listening to live music at local venues, celebrating the moments that brought together laughter and camaraderie. Maxyne is preceded in death by her husband, Billie Joe Sapp Sr.; her parents, Carrol Wane Adams and Mary Alice Adams; her daughter, Lu Leatrice Sapp; her sister, Carrol Lane Schumacker; her brother, PFC Ted Wane Adams; as well as her great granddaughter, Addison Hope Bell, her great grandson, Landon Wane Sapp, and Brett Adkins Reid. These losses were deeply felt, yet they served to strengthen the bonds of love within her family. A visitation in honor of Maxyne's life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Neal Funeral Home, located at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, TX 77327.
