May Thrasher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ozark Funeral Homes - Anderson on Jul. 15, 2025.
May Thrasher, a beacon of joy and strength, left this world on July 15, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by the love and warmth in Anderson, MO. Born on August 1, 1954, in Tahlequah, OK, May's life was a tapestry of vibrant threads, each color representing the passions and people she held dear. She passed away peacefully due to natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and an unshakeable spirit.
May's journey began as the cherished daughter of Dick and Lucy (Lookey) Weeley, both of whom predeceased her, but whose values and love shaped the remarkable woman she became. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she was a guiding light in the lives of her children: Richard Thrasher of Lanagan, MO, John Thrasher of Lanagan, MO, Jennifer Thrasher of Grove, OK, and Julie Thrasher of Stillwater, OK. May's spirit will continue to be reflected in the lives of her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
A woman of many talents and interests, May's zest for life was infectious. She was a master of the needle, crafting beauty with every stitch in her sewing, beading, and quilting. Her hands wove not just fabrics but the warmth of love into every creation. May was also an avid gamer, finding joy and challenge in the worlds contained within her Gameboy and smartphone. Her competitive streak shone through in her love for bowling, and she scaled new heights, both literally and figuratively, through rock climbing.
May's culinary skills were legendary, and her kitchen was a place of gathering and gastronomic delight. She found great pleasure in adding to her treasured collection of Coca-Cola items, each piece a sparkling memory in her trove of cherished moments. Family get-togethers were events filled with laughter and affection, with May at the heart, ensuring everyone felt the warmth of her love.
Her spiritual life was as rich and deep as her earthly interests. May's spirituality was personal, profound, and full of conviction and was very proud of her Cherokee Tribe. She lived her life as a testament to her beliefs, and her faith in a Heavenly reward was unbreakable. It was this faith that gave her strength, and in turn, she bestowed that strength upon others.
As we remember May, let us honor her memory by living as she did - with open hearts, creative spirits, and the courage to climb every mountain, both real and metaphorical, that lies before us. May Thrasher's light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew her, a guiding star in the tapestry of life she so beautifully wove.
