May Bell Whitaker

May Bell "Aunt Margie" Moore Whitaker, 91, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away at home surrounded by her family on June 15, 2022.
May Bell was born August 20, 1930 in Burnsville, NC to the late Harvey Moore and Ethel Caroline Fender. She is also preceded in death by Husband Joseph Martin Whitaker; a son, Bob Whitaker; a daughter Mary Jo Nesbit; and a grandson Walter Hendrix Jr.
Mrs. Whitaker retired from Beacon manufacturing. She attended Sharon Methodist church. Her favorite past times were playing cards and dice. She was a music lover, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
Surviving Daughters, Corean Stevens (Carl) of Fairview, NC, Charlie Strickland (Bruce) of Swannanoa, NC, Sharon Holbert of Bradenton, Fl, Jeanette Craig (Mike) of Fairview, NC; sister, Vickey Ellison(Kim) of Alabama, Marthene Shelton of Etowah, NC, Maxine Barnwell of Hendersonville, NC, brother James Moore (Edna) of Asheville, NC; several nieces and nephews;11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on July 16, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fairview, NC.
