Maynard William Folstrom

Maynard W. Folstrom, age 86, of Isanti passed away February 3, 2026 at Cambridge Medical Center. A private celebration of life will be held in the spring.

Maynard William Folstrom, born April 28, 1939, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of John "Jack" and Mildred Folstrom and was one of ten children.

He is survived by his wife Gloria (Jeanie) Folstrom, his children Tony (Angela) Folstrom and Sherri (Shawn) Monroe; grandchildren Joshua (Jess) Monroe, Spencer (Caitee) Monroe, Adam (Tanna) Mortensen , and Danny (Charo) Williams; great-grandchildren Nnea Monroe, Micah Williams, and Clover Williams; stepchildren Kenny (Shalene) Friedland, Roger (Mindy) Friedland, and Eric (Danya) Friedland; and step-grandchildren Blake, Gunner, Gloria, Tristan, Cayden, Cecealia, and Roland Friedland.

Maynard loved spending time with family and friends and had a lifelong passion for horses. He enjoyed riding, working his horse teams, and pulling sleighs and wagons. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren, teaching them about farm life, horses, and the importance of hard work. A devoted animal lover, he took great pride in caring for his horses, spoiling his dogs, baling hay each year, and keeping his equipment in excellent condition.

Maynard was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to do whatever it took to provide for his family. He began his career as a truck driver and took on many side jobs over the years, including owning snowplowing and towing trucks. He later owned and operated his own locksmith business until his retirement.

Maynard believed strongly in giving back to his community. He volunteered as a reserve police officer, served on mounted horse patrol for WE Fest, and led many charity wagon trains supporting local causes. He had been an active member of the Lions Club, where he helped build parade floats and worked pancake breakfasts to raise money in support of local community efforts.

Maynard will be remembered for his love of animals, dedication to family, strong work ethic, and generous service to others. He lived life the way he believed it should be lived, with grit, independence, and a stubborn determination to do things his own way, leaving behind strong roots, lasting stories, and a legacy carried forward by those who knew and loved him.
