JoAnn McElwaine, 57, Long Valley, NJ passed away on Sunday, December 3. She died peacefully at home with her cherished family at her side. JoAnn was born on April 8, 1966 to parents Serena and Robert Dubenezic in Passaic, NJ. She spent her childhood in Dover, NJ. JoAnn and her family have since settled in Long Valley, NJ for the past 30 years.
A beloved wife, mother, and soon to be grandmother, JoAnn is survived by her loving husband Thomas, son Ryan and daughter in law Emma of Hoboken, NJ, son Sean of New York City, NY, and grandson to be in June of 2024.
JoAnn was an Assistant Director at Long Valley Christian Nursery School for the past 16 years, building many meaningful relationships over the years. She also operated her own bookkeeping services firm for the past 20 years. JoAnn has also volunteered her time in Long Valley Junior Women's Club, Cub Scouts, and various other organizations within Long Valley and the West Morris Central HS community.
JoAnn cherished spending time with her boys Ryan and Sean (her little "chickees"), daughter in law Emma, and Vito the Pom. As well as always enjoying time spent with her extended family and friends. She enjoyed her summer vacations in Ocean City, MD and Long Beach Island, NJ and winter skiing getaways in Vermont. JoAnn also relished her spare time scrapbooking her treasured family photo albums, especially with the company of her niece Ali Flanagan.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm with a memorial service starting at 5:30 pm with Father Leopoldo Salvania officiating at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840.
