Mecia Ann Grooms Hubbard, 66, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Brunswick to John Calvin and Laura Ann Chancy Grooms, she grew up in Brunswick and Florida. It was in Ft. Myers, FL, that she met Mark Hubbard at sixteen years old. They married on February 3, 1977. After Mark joined the US Air Force, Mecia and their children lived in different places around the country including Homestead, FL, and Las Vegas, NV. When Mark retired from the Air Force, they returned to Mecia's hometown of Brunswick, and Mecia went to work for Coastal Cleaners where she remained for 20 years.
Mecia loved her grandkids more than anything. She also enjoyed reading (she preferred romance novels) and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hollis Grooms.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mark Hubbard, Sr.; children, Patricia Hubbard (Tarah Dillingham) and Mark Hubbard (Lacey) of Brunswick; sisters, Cathryn Grooms Rhoden (James) of Waynesville and Ginger Grooms Nichols (Jay) of Brunswick; grandchildren, Andrew Hubbard, Hailey Hubbard, Mark Hubbard, III, and Jack Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery.
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to assist the family of Mrs. Hubbard.
