Melanie J. Fazio, 76, passed away on September 26, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois. She was born in Mobile, Alabama on November 16, 1948, daughter to William and Virginia (Cascio) Fazio. Melanie grew up in Rockford, IL, where she would go on to graduate from Boylan Catholic High School, class of 1966. She then attended Rockford College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Quickly after, she started at ComEd and spent 33 years there before her retirement in 2001 as an electrical operations dispatcher. Upon retirement, Melanie was an avid traveler; she enjoyed time in Italy where her mother was born, as well as visiting different countries around the world.
She is survived by her brother, Fr. Paul Fazio, and several cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Virginia.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church, 1010 Ferguson St, Rockford, IL 61102, with Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, Illinois.
