Evelyn Lindquist

Evelyn M. Lindquist, 88, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born April 10, 1937, on a farm in Isanti County, MN, the daughter of Fritz and Elsie (Juthe) Anderson. Graduate of Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN. Evelyn married Rev. Dr. Lareau Lindquist on August 12, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN In 1986, Evie and Lareau founded Barnabas International, an organization with the goal of addressing the unique challenges of missionaries worldwide. In years prior she worked as a nurse at OSF St. Anthony. She was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Free Church and served on the Fairhaven Christian Retirement Board.

Evelyn was a gentle and compassionate person. She loved the outdoors and had an adventurous spirit. She also loved to travel and visited over 60 countries with her husband.

Survived by her husband, Lareau; children, Jodi (Mike) Strzalko, Jeff (Janis) Lindquist, Reese Lindquist, and Michelle (James) Correa; and grandchildren, Grace & Jack Strzalko, Peter, Sara, Kristopher & Anna Lindquist, and Ashley & Alex Correa. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Virgil (Norma) Anderson. The family would like to thank the Fairhaven 2nd floor nursing staff and Northern Illinois Hospice for their compassionate care.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at First Free Rockford, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
