Raymond Mincemoyer Obituary

Raymond E. Mincemoyer, 77, of Rockford, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, he went home to be with the Lord at his home surrounded by his family after a hard-fought Hallelujah! Born October 16, 1948, in Rockford, the son of Richard E. and Gladys E. (Sandberg) Mincemoyer. He attended Johnson Grade School, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Guilford High School. Veteran of the U.S. Marines. Raymond married his love Willa M. Ellison on August 28, 1971 at First Evangelical Covenant church. They were married for 54 blessed years. He owned and operated Mincemoyer Jewelers with his family into its third generation and was a skilled master custom designing jeweler, watchmaker, clock expert, custom engraver until retirement in 2018 closing out an 80-year-old family business. He took pride in living a Christian life and doing the best he could in leading his family and his business.

Raymond was the first to help anyone in need. He was such a giver and resonated the love of Jesus for all to see. He lived his life as a servant and enjoyed giving back. He volunteered with many different organizations and was very passionate for veterans and the VetsRoll organization. Raymond volunteered to help many veterans attend Vets' Roll. Raymond was invited to attend as a veteran himself in May of 2025. A trip of a lifetime he would describe. Raymond was a member of The Salvation Army for over 50 years and played in the brass band, he played the cornet and alto horn.

He had so many wonderful ministry moments including playing in the Rose Bowl parade and Christmas mornings they would play music for all the hospitals in Rockford. Raymond had also volunteered for Gideons Intl, Rockford Noon Lions Club.

Raymond was a train enthusiast, a passion passed down from his father. He enjoyed drawing, model railroading and building his own live layouts with his grandchildren. Raymond loved his family dearly and they were his pride and joy! He enjoyed his grandkids every second he shared with them. He was always active and found himself busy with hobbies such as woodworking, watching trains and attending grandchildren's activities, working on his 1952 chevy and spending time with his 20th rifle company. He loved animals too and enjoyed spending time with his dogs Buddy and Kocoa.

Survived by his wife, Willa; children, Wendy (Patrick) Gardner, Christy (Mark) West, Stacey (Charlie) Cozart, and Heather (Nathaniel) Foster; nephew who was like a son, David (Amy) Phillips; 15 grandchildren, Kaela( Michael) Moyer, Greta)Kyle Hull, Brooke (Ryan ) Carlin, Brady( Teygan )West, Riley and Cully West, Maddie (Nick) Obert, Charlie Cozart, Ross(Madi) Cozart, Levi and Naomi Cozart, Jentzen and Ellison Foster, Ayden and Corbyn Phillips, and four great-grandchildren, Carter Obert, Bond Moyer, Haven Carlin, Selah Hull another coming in the spring. Kathy Chapman, a cousin who was like a sister. Predeceased by his parents. His brother Norm and sister-in-law, Mary, and son John Raymod William Mincemoyer (angel baby).

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 Rockford Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
