Conrad L. “Gus” Aronson, 89, of Rockford, passed away on November 28, 2025. He was born on March 24, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Conrad E. and Elva Grace (Pearson) Aronson. He spent many formative summers with his uncles, Bill and Stub Pearson, at his Grandma Grace’s farm near Glasco, KS. He attended Iowa State where he studied Mechanical Engineering and met his bride of 65 years, Norma Dee Nechvatal. They established their home in Rockford in the mid 1960’s, where Gus spent his career at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co., as an engineer and contracts manager working on many projects with the Big 3 automakers. Gus always had a joke or quick witticism at hand and enjoyed spending time playing bridge, cribbage and golf.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Teri) of Roscoe, IL, Greg (Lisa) of San Marcos, TX, and Andy of San Bruno, CA; grandchildren, Justin (Rebecca), Katie (Ryan) Stone, Danielle (Josh) Dailey, Cole (Alyssa), Carly, Emma, and Carolyn; and great grandchildren, Ari and Liam Stone, Liliana Dailey, and Madelyn. He is predeceased by his wife Norma, parents, and an infant sister, Judy.
