Dear Wayne,

I'm so sorry you and your family lost Melanie so early in life. Though I didn't have as much interaction with her as I did with you while growing up, I do know she was just as special a person as yourself. Of course, this is no easy achievement. From the photo I saw of y'all (circa 2018) with your children, I can tell your life together has been everything I imagined it would be...wow! I'm seeing a blonde-haired granddaughter in your future.

I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!

Best always ,

Your classmate, teammate and friend,

Joe Calhoun (and wife Stephanie, who met y'all at our 20th reunion and connected with Melanie instantly)

So sorry to hear Wayne. I remember going to Gator games and would see her watching you play. She was filled with pride watching her man play. And her smile was quite possibly one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Go rest high Melanie.

Melanie was my room mom my first year teaching at LCS. She was so kind and attentive to all the new families and was a friend to all- she made a special attempt to make everyone feel welcome and included always. She was beautiful inside and out. What a Godly example she was for all that knew her. She loved her children greatly and was a fantastic mom. She is an angel.
