June Avery, 91, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Stevensville, Michigan. She was born in Bradford, Arkansas to Bernice and Opal Rains and moved to Michigan in 1952. June married the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" Avery, on September 18, 1954. In addition to raising her three children, she dedicated 32 years to Lakeshore High School before her retirement. Known for her warm presence and strong work ethic, she formed lasting connections with students and staff. June was also a member of Stevensville United Methodist Church for over 65 years.

June, who was known as Nana by many, loved spending time with her family and had a passion for sewing. In recent years she enjoyed making fleece blankets for her friends and relatives and working on puzzles with her children. A devoted sports fan, she faithfully cheered for the Lakeshore Lancers, the Detroit Tigers, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, attending countless games over the years.

June is survived by her three children: Rhonda (Brad) Hildebrand, Karen (Jeff) Sager and Charles Jr. "Chip" (Mary Beth) Avery; eight grandchildren: Brad Hildebrand, Jr., Maggie (Gabe) Garcia, Tracey (David) Szurley, Samantha (Jessica) Rafanan, Chris Search, Evan Sager, Colleen Avery and Charlie Avery; seventeen great grandchildren; her dear nieces: Lana (Dan) Allan, Donita Smith and Char Klotz, and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck, sisters Wilma Rains and Wanda Schmaltz, and brothers Bud Rains and Levon Rains.
