Melba Jean Blankenship Dry passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at her home in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 94. She was born on February 15, 1931, in Wolfe City, Texas to parents Wesley Blankenship and Ila (Wadley) Blankenship.

Melba married Bennie Dry on July 9, 1947, in Marietta, Oklahoma. Together they had 2 children, Linda and Gary.

Mrs. Dry was a member of Cockrell Hill Baptist Church, and worked for many years in accounts receivable at Gibson's Department Store.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Peacock and her husband Larry; her son, Gary Dry and his wife Hazel; grandchildren: Robert Peacock and his significant other Elisa, Dawn Hargrove and her husband Bryan, Bryan Peacock, Julie Dunaway, Kimberly Galloway and her husband Garrett, and Gary Keith Dry and his wife Michelle. Her great-grandchildren include: Phillip, Dawn, Gavin, Alexander, Hayden, Allyson, Hillary, Cayden, Lexie, Rylee, Austyn, and Bailey; bonus great-grandchildren: Peyton, Kendall, Gavin, Landen and Cameron; and a great-great-grandson, Dean. Melba is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Thompson and her husband Brent, sister-in-law, Kathleen Pollard, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Ila Blankenship, her husband Bennie Dry and her sister, Eva Wilcox.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the Mt Carmel Cemetery Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
