St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Melba Catherine Batiste Malveaux, also known as "Mama Mel", 87, who passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Friday, December 19th, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until service time.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Friday.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Casandra B. Smith; her son-in-law, Andrew J. Smith; and three grandchildren, Milleesia Smith, Helana Smith, and Phenicia Smith (Josh Mallet).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pervis Malveaux; and her parents, Jerome and Gurdy Andres Batiste; and her twin brother, Milton Batiste.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
