Melinda Garcia, age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in her Los Ojos home. Melinda was born on September 25, 1956, to David Allen and Patricia (Clay) Gallegos, in Newport Beach, California. On May 18, 1974, she married Abel Garcia. Together they owned and operated the family business Garcia Sand & Gravel. In 1999, they permanently moved to Los Ojos, New Mexico, where she enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the river. She loved spending time with her eleven grandchildren, family, and friends. Melinda enjoyed cooking for all, especially tacos and sopapillas. Music and attending concerts were a favorite pastime of hers, which she loved sharing with her grandchildren. She was loved by all.
She is preceded in death by her father David Allen, step-father David Gallegos, father and mother in-law Cipriano and Felia Garica.
Melinda is survived by her husband Abel; her children, Selena (Fred Minoletti), Anthony (Merlinda Garcia), Amanda; her eleven grandchildren, Abbygail, Gabriella, Cipriana, Anthony, Joseph, Tristen, Giovani, Danica, Viviana, Remington, Freddy; her mother, Patricia; siblings, Kelley, Chirstina, David; numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Melinda touched are invited to the DeVargas Funeral Home (623 N. Railroad Ave., Española, NM 87532). A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 5:00 pm followed by a rosary at 6:00 pm. .
